Fashion x Ballet

This is really beautiful. Ballerina wearing Chloe dresses. Her hair is so long and fine and smooth! Didn't like her two-toned hair at the end though. I guess it was trying to bring the dark side out.

Check it out here.

Marc Jacobs Cute Ballerina Flats

Upon first glance (glance!), I shrieked かわいい inwardly. Adorable isn't it?

The shape, design, colour and polka dots are very nicely put together :) But look at this:

These thin soles are not for the thin-souled. Walking on uneven grounds will kill you. Unless you like to do foot reflexology with every step, you sadomasochist you.

ViVi June 2011

Okay, I'm officially bored by magazine scans. This reminds me of why I never ever buy a magazine religiously every month and only on a whim. Or I'll just read them at the hairdresser's. Even though I only buy a few copies a year, I somehow still have unread magazines from 2010. Most of the time, I only buy them when I need to pass time. When time is over, I chuck them aside and don't browse through them ever again, until many moons later, and I'll chuck them out since it's way out of season.

ViVi is great fun because you can flip through it non-stop. But that also makes it kinda useless. So I've concluded, fashion magazines are 1) impractical - they wear shorts & translucent leggings in winter? 2) too expensive - I can't afford the Celine luggage phantom and Christian Louboutin heels and Chloe tote, every season! 3) dangerous - shoes can kill your feet, flouncy skirts can't stay down in the wind and you'll moon the world. 4) Unflattering if you don't understand your body shape - High waist, wide legs pants are fug for 99% of the the female population. 5) time consuming - imagine all the time that goes into wearing so many layers: assembling the outfit, laundry, omg.

Okay, I'm tired so 5 reasons are enough.

I'm into less casual styles these days. This dress is great for work. Plus it's not a full skirt so it can't fly up. (It happened to me again recently so I'm on a lookout for this now - but I will forget after a while)

These rain booties are really cute! I wonder if it'll be slippery inside though, since it's gonna be wet and all. Your feet will probably be slipping down, cramming your toes and you can't walk properly with the heels slipping off all the time. Well, it's cuter than wellington boots but they also fulfill Reasons 1 and 3 for not getting them.

Who the hell is this? Maybe I'm blind but I've not seen this guy in previous issues of ViVi. Exile Naoki さん, you have a ridiculous name, ridiculous outfit, ridiculous shoes, cap and basically everything about you screams GROSS.

Grammar Phail

I've seen this elsewhere before but I guess seeing it again spurred me to blog about it.

Go to vacation? Go TO vacation? TO???

I'm not gonna spend so much money to buy a bag with a grammatically incorrect phrase on it. I understand it's probably Japlish and hence, forgivable. Maybe my main gripe is that something made of canvas costs so much.

Seventeen June 2011

A new month, a new issue and a new magazine. My first time downloading Seventeen and frankly, it's quite thin on content. Maybe because my Japanese is rudimentary. And I'm not interested to learn how to do exercises or makeup and all as much as Seventeen readers do.

The most useful thing I found (I am obsessed with shoes but the terrain makes it unfavourable for comfort) are the styles predicted (self-fulfilled?) to be big this Spring/Summer season.

In case you miss out on the cutesy squigglies all over the pages, the in-styles are anything checked or polka-dotted or flower printed or with fringes or in denim material, sandal boots, sandals (low heeled), clogs and espadrilles. There you have it, the most important 4 pages of the entire issue.

Looking at the shoe styles of the models, however, shows that platforms and high-heels (strappy) are still very much in season. Personally, I think platforms are awesome for this treacherous terrain but I think they make our feet look swollen and calves fat. Just my opinion.

May 2011 ViVi Mag Scans

Spring is most definitely here. Out with the camel coats and knee high boots and in with the porous cardigan and ankle boots. I really like spring. Not only are flowers in full bloom (is anyone in the mood for hanabi [cherry blossom viewing] in the aftermath of the earthquake in Japan?), it features white (my favourite colour) most prominently. It's light and airy, super comfortable. I don't quite get the cardigans for outdoors though. It's getting really warm here!

The looks for this season includes a slouchy top (loose knits/bohemian print/ethnic print/button front checkered blouse) and a cute pair of shorts (pumpkin shaped/denim). What's not to love? Everything is loose and comfy.

Translucent maxi skirts are still in. I like them too, but it's too warm to wear them IMHO. Plus they will go out of season... maybe 2 months later.

I love this look. Seriously. Super love this cardigan though I saw it on a sales assistant at H&M in... January I think.

Apart from looking really casual, I guess this is the closest u can get to being fashionable at the workplace. Slits at one side. Asymmetrical hem.

I guess other office-friendly outfits include dresses with little flower/polka dots/peter pan collar, lace (yes, still in), maxi dress (STILL in), flare pants, cropped pants and white beach dresses. Actually, I personally think the best way to make a look more formal is a fancy cardigan/blazer.

Anyway, I decided to end my cheapskateness and go buy a HK edition of ViVi. To my horror, they are different from ViVi Japan! I naively thought it's just a direct translation of the Japanese pages with some exceptions since they provided the price of some items in HKD. Should I invest in a proper ViVi Japan in future?

Atelier Versace

This is seriously belated that I was contemplating if I should still upload them. But I decided that the point is to showcase beautiful, soft gradation of colours and not aim to be the First to repost something so here goes...

These pictures from style-tips.com blew me away with the flow-y fabric and beautiful hues.

I *love* the gradients above.

It's like a cascading waterfall. I think it makes a breathtaking evening gown.

I like the colours here too But why does the top part look kinda stiff?

Mulberry, bejewelled

Check out behind-the-scenes pictures on how a Mulberry bag is made. There aren't many pictures but it gives the rough idea of how much work goes into it. Did I hear somebody say, "wow"?

Prada Getting Listed in HK

Being the fastest growing region, Prada sees more benefit to getting listed on the HK stock exchange. Not to mention, the lax regulations of the HK stock exchange to attract more companies to get listed makes it less painful for Prada.

Fashion + Economics. It's always an interesting mix. Like intellect + sassiness.

Dior Diorever Bag

Saw this on Butterboom.com and just had to re-blog it here. Breathtaking, isn't it?

I went to the Dior website (wanted to nick the Diorever picture off the website but to no avail) and saw 2 more exquisite leather pieces:

Silver Tone Gem Pouch

Absolutely stunning and classy. I've never been a fan of the quilted Lady Dior with the chunky handles. But these are another league all together.

Viktor & Rolf Fall 2011 RTW

Random pics that I like (& dislike) from Viktor & Rolf Fall 2011 RTW collection.

Red, white (beige in this case) & black is my favourite fashion combination. Don't quite fancy the red-face though.

Nice skirt!

Looks warm. Nice skirt with a sheen and movement.

Powerful and sexy at the same time.

Severe neck injury, maybe?

ViVi April 2011 Looks

This picture basically sums up the look for the month - hole-y sweaters, baggy shorts, flare pants and a cowboy hat. Plus, nudes are still in.

I love wearing shorts, not because I have nice legs, but because it's comfortable. However, it's very easy to look sloppy without the "correct" footwear. These loafers fit in nicely. But the lazy me is thinking, birkies should do too.

More people should wear sandals with ankle straps. They flatter your legs, regardless of how pork knuckle-y they look.

Totally rocking this look. I'm still looking for my perfect hole-y sweater (hates it when nothing I see fits what I have in mind), denim shorts and black skorts (not the cheap, jersey, flappy kind). And I have found a nice, beige pair of shorts... just that I need to make my way down to buy it. Should-have-bought-it-yesterday... argh!

agnes b bijoux SS2011

I've always liked the collections from agnes b BIJOUX because they are simple, clean and elegant. These pieces from the SS 2011 collection have caught my eye though I have not owned any jewellery by agnes b. Not yet, anyway.

Square rings are always ooh to me.

Classy bangles.

Isn't this the cutest, little charm? It screams innocence. Heh.

Slits, Down by the Middle

The people at HK Fashion Geek have observed that slits right down the middle will be the next big thing. See here and here.

All I'm thinking is, werk those inner thighs, baby. Jiggling fats are fugly. And brazilian waxes are the way to go.

BTW, the title is a tribute to "Down by the Water" by The Drums, a song I loved from Gossip Girl.

Mag Review: ViVi March 2011

Did a quick browse-through of ViVi March 2011 and some pictures caught my attention... though not all in the right way.

Love this look. In case you are new, I'm slightly obsessed with anything Black Swan related:

These pants are seriously unflattering...

Wassup with the rectangular hips look?

OMG these pants with fugly cut seems to be making it big. People with no asses can wear them and look, like a box I guess:

These are what I call nice pants:

Love T-strap shoes:

Miu Miu Hairstyles

This may seem hugely irrelevant because the video showcases Miu Miu's 2011 Spring/Summer collection yet I'm obsessing over their hairstyles.

Centre-parting. Soft curls at the hair ends. If only I have the correct head shape! Plus, people with big noses should not have centre-parting fringe because it will accentuate the nose size, according to 小曼老師。My nose is small but the top of my head is flat so my head looks more boxy with a centre-parting fringe. Also, my fringe is too short now because I mistakenly cut it in December. Woe!

Chanel for Her

Assuming we are following the Western kinda V-day, guys need not wait for 14 March's White V-day to buy pressies for the girls.

These are some stuff that I like from the Chanel Valentine 2011 Collection.

I've always preferred a more rounded looking bag to the rectangular block classic style:
That said, I do wish to own one Chanel Classic maybe 2 years from now!

Prefer this to the interlocking Cs pendant:

Colours are sweet & easy to match but I suspect it'll look quite different in real life:

This pair of flats is absolutely adorable! It'll be hard to keep them clean though:
